Fidel Castro Back in Cuban TV

Fidel Castro Interviewed in Cuban TV – after more than four years of ailment and absence from the usual public scene, Fidel Castro seems to be up again with TV interviews and public engagements.

Fidel Castro was seen live on Cuban TV Monday, July 12 talking about everything from the threat of global nuclear war to the use of energy efficient light bulbs. This is his most recent TV appearance after he sidestepped in the limelight.

Castro however failed to discuss recent events in Cuba including the freeing of 52 political prisoners and sending them in exile as promised by the government.

The one hour and 15 minutes interview of Fidel Castro was aired over “Mesa Redonda” the Cuban translation of round table. “Mesa Redonda” is a daily Cuban talk show on Current Events.

Fidel Castro was wearing a dark blue track suit top over a plaid shirt during the interview. Although Castro looked relaxed and lucid, his old age and ailing condition shows in her conversation and the way he spoke.

One of the most noticeable discussion and segment was Fidel Castro’s warning if America decided to attack Iran. “The worst (for America) is the resistance they will face there, which they didn’t face in Iraq,” he said.

Although the television interview was presented to be live, it was disputed however tat it could have been taped at an earlier time.

Fidel Castro stepped down as Cuban President and formally turned over powers to his brother, Raul Castro. Castro remains head of Cuba’s Communist Party and continues to publish his thoughts on world events in opinion pieces.
