Written by Jack Staffard on Sunday, July 11th, 2010Uruguay vs. Netherlands World Cup 2010 Recap and Game Highlights – The Semi Finals football match between Uruguay vs. Netherlands was already finished and as predicted by many, Netherlands won the match against Uruguay giving them the chance to grab the championship title as they move to the 2010 World Cup Finals today, June 11. The final score was 3-2.
Before we witness Netherland’s battle for the championship at the 2010 FIFA World Cup Finals against Spain later, let’s first have a look on their last football match against Uruguay in the Semi Finals. Netherlands was the first to score a goal in this match in the 18th minute of the first half through Bronckhorst. It was an incredible strike from Bronckhorst who arrowed the ball into the top corner from 30 yards. Great work from Persie down the left there. He won the ball from Godin of Uruguay and broke into box before being tackled by Bronckhorst.

The second goal went to Uruguay just before the end of the first half during the 41st minute through Forlan. Forlan cut inside Mathijsen and hit a curling shot with his left foot that Stekelenburg (Netherlands) got a hand to but can not prevent going in. It was a fine goal from a man in form. The first half ended with a tie score of 1-1.
The third goal was accomplished by Netherlands in the 70th minute of the second half through Sneijder. Sneijder collected the ball inside the penalty area, to the right, cut inside and unleashed a low shot which deflected into the bottom corner. That was a score of 2 for Netherlands.
Just 3 minutes after that second goal, another goal was again scored by Netherlands through Robben. Kuyt whipped the ball into the box from the left and Robben headed it powerfully down into the bottom corner to advance the score to 3-1 for Netherlands. It was a rare headed goal for Robben but it was a decisive one.
The game continued with the pressure for Uruguay. Finally, just before the match ended in the 95th minute, Uruguay made its second goal during the 92nd minute through Pereira. Pereira received a quick free-kick, cut inside and curled around the outstretched arm of Stekelenberg and into the bottom corner. That was 2-3 for Uruguay.
Uruguay tried once again to score another goal after that to extend the time but to no avail. Unfortunately, that was their last chance for the finals. Congratulations to Netherlands. They will advance to the Finals Round on July 11. Meanwhile, Uruguay would try their best to win the third place position as they battle against the losing team in tomorrow’s match between Germany and Spain.
