Lexus Recall: Another Batch of Toyota Recalls
Written by David Delano on Friday, July 2nd, 2010The Lexus recall issue was not the first time this year. Since November 2009 Toyota Lexus and other models of Toyota had been affected by sever recalls due to pedal entrapment. The latest Lexus recall however has something to do with its hybrid car model, the 2010 HS250h Sedan.
The recall of the Lexus hybrid car model was due to fuel leaks. The new Lexus recall will affect 17,000 Lexus luxury hybrids. The tests conducted for the National Traffic Highway Safety Administration found that fuel leaked during a rear impact crash.
Toyota also notified all dealers to discontinue the sale of the model until a fix was found and implemented. To this date, Toyota has recalled more than 8.5 million vehicles in the past year over safety concerns.
During January 2010, Lexus recall was also called due to pedal entrapment. 5.4 million vehicles are affected by the recall with 2.3 million covered by the sticking-throttle-pedal recall and 4.2 million covered by the pedal-entrapment (floor mat) issue. And about 1.7 million vehicles are covered by both recalls.
Then way back 2009, Toyota Lexus recalled vehicles due to unintended acceleration. The models affected were 2007 to 2010 MY (model year) Camry, 2005 to 2010 MY Avalon, 2004 to 2009 MY Prius, 2005 to 2010 MY Tacoma, 2007 to 2010 MY Tundra, 2007 to 2010 MY ES350, 2006 to 2010 MY IS250, and 2006 to 2010 MY IS 350.
